The city is the administrative centre for the same-named district and is very significant historically. From the Chauhans to the Mughals, several dynasties have called it home. However, it is most recognised nowadays for serving as the entrance to Ranthambore National Park.

    Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh ji I, who gave the city its current layout in 1765 AD, is honoured with the name of the popular tourist attraction in Rajasthan. Later, during the administration of the British, Maharaja Sawai Man Singh authorised the construction of a railway line between Sawai Madhopur and Jaipur, making the distance between the two cities shorter location with easy access. Guavas flourish in Sawai Madhopur’s surroundings, and they are also well-known for them.

    In addition to being close to Ranthambore National Park, Sawai Madhopur is also next to Ranthambore Fort, a site that is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along with this, there are a few religious fairs and festivals in Rajasthan that are worth visiting, including the Sawai Madhopur Utsav, the Ganesh Chaturthi Fair, Dussehra, and Chauth Mata Mela. Together with the Rajiv Gandhi Regional ,Museum of Natural History, Shilpgram, and the Galta Temple, the Trinetra Ganesh Temple is one of Sawai Madhopur’s top tourist destinations.

    Sawai Madhopur Utsav

    On January 19, the city of Sawai Madhopur celebrates its founding with a festival known as the Sawai Madhopur Utsav. On this day in 1763, Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I founded the city of Sawai Madhopur. The biggest fair in Sawai Madhopur is the Ganesh Chaturthi Fair. At the Ganesh Temple in Ranthambore Fort, it is observed over the course of three days on Bhadav Shukla Chaturthi. In Sawai Madhopur, Dussera is observed for ten days throughout the month of October.At the Chauth Mata Temple in Chauth Ka Barwara, the Chauth Mata Mela fair is held every January.
